Waimea Valley

We'd already heard about the waterfall in this valley (that's Michael and Nathan sitting under it -- click to enlarge). When a coworker of mine let me know this weekend was kind of a 'grand reopening' of the park since its purchase by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, we decided this was the weekend to go.

But honestly, we don't think ANY weekend would be a bad weekend to go! The scenery is gorgeous--it's a managed botanical garden as well--and there's a nice swimming hole right under the waterfall itself. In fact, on the way out of the park, we were glad to learn we could convert our day pass into an annual pass. As the saying goes... "we'll be back."
